The news of a girl student being raped by fellow students at a boarding school has shocked the Dehradun city. A medical examination of the 16-year-old girl confirmed the sexual assault, and four accused boys were produced in the juvenile court in the Uttarakhand capital on Tuesday.
The police have made nine arrests in the case so far. Those arrested are the director and the principal of the school, its chief administrator and his wife, a woman help. A hunt is on for other accused involved in the crime.
The shocking incident took place on 14 August when four boys called a minor girl at the school storeroom and raped her. According to the police, the victim approached the school administration after the crime but no one allegedly paid any heed.

Dehradun’s Senior Superintendent of Police Nivedita Kukreti said, “The investigation is on. We produced the accused boys in the court and they were sent to a juvenile home. Five other persons were also arrested and sent to jail in connection with the case.”
The Central Board of School Education has also issued a show cause notice to the school in question. The victim registered her statement in the court on Tuesday. The police are all set to make more arrests in the case. They are searching for the doctor who checked her and prescribed abortion pills to the girl.
Dehradun is famous for its public school education in the world. With so many reputed public schools located in the city, Dehradun is even termed as the capital of public schools in India. The rape of the girl and the dubious role played by the school administration has shocked the public.
